Sue Arline Lemons Bird – October 31, 2012


Sue Arline Lemons Bird, 80, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Sue was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Greenville to Lonnie Ray Lemons and Juanita Goodwin Lemons.  She married Jack Curtis Stephens on Sept. 23, 1950.  They had three children, Toni Lynette, Gary Wayne, and Jackie Sue.  On Aug. 31, 1957, Jack and the three children were all killed in a car accident in Loveland, Colorado.  Sue worked at the Painters Union and the Carpenters Union in Amarillo.  On June 23, 1973, she married Kenneth Bird.  He passed away on January. 24, 2004.
Survivors include a stepson, Gary Bird and wife Beverley; a stepdaughter, Jackie Ledbetter and husband Mike; five sisters, Maxine Certain of West Monroe, LA, Mary Lou Stewart and husband Arvis of Amarillo, Faye Nell Allton and husband Ron of Palm Bay, FL, Linda Weaver and husband Ron of Richmond, Ginger McCartor and husband Jimmy of Amarillo and Roger Poe, husband of the late Judy Lemons Poe of Estes Park, CO; grandchildren, Tiffany Hare and husband Craig of Calgary, Canada, Jeffery Ledbetter and wife Darleen of San Diego, CA, and Casey Bird and wife Tricia of Amarillo; 6 great-grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and 4 great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 50610, Amarillo, TX 79159.
