Steven Anderson, 52, of Amarillo, TX, passed away on September 4, 2023.
Steven was born on June 14, 1971, in Pampa, TX to Betty and Gerald Anderson.
Throughout school, he enjoyed all things 4H, motocross, rodeo, football, and attending Fun Valley camping trips with his family. Steven was proud that the camping tradition continued with his own boys. After graduating Miami High School, Steven attended Dodge City Junior College with a full ride rodeo scholarship. He then went to continue his education at Clarendon College. Later, Steven attended Amarillo Fire Academy and became a firefighter.
Steven was a fireman for twenty-six years. Of those, Steven served with the Amarillo Fire Department for twenty years and retired with a distinguished career as a lieutenant in May 2021. His son, Kasey, was promoted to his father’s position with the AFD. Then, Steven sought to enjoy his lifelong love of the cattle industry and went on to establish Anderson Beefmasters with his wife Lyn. He successfully raised and showed Beefmaster cattle, garnishing many awards and honors throughout the years.
His greatest joy of all was being “Cow Poppy” or “Poppy” to his grandchildren.
