Sophie Jean Dunn

Sophie Dunn, 87, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 30, 2025. 

She was born on May 30, 1937, to Ray and Mabel Smith in Luling, Texas. 

She graduated from Southern Methodist University and then married James Wilmoth Dunn. They started a family in Dallas, Texas and had four children. 

 Sophie is survived by her sisters Nancy Vallee and Dorothy Smith, her children Diana Hara (Roger), Sean Dunn, Cassandra Davies (Brian), Miles Dunn (Rosni), her grandchildren Jeremy Davies, Zea Davies, Amir Hamza (Shifa), and Raahil Hamza-Cruz (Matthew) along with great grandchildren and many friends. We will miss Sophie’s vivacious personality and smile, her love of crafts, her endless enthusiasm for creating beauty wherever she went, and her zeal for studying the Bible. Sophie was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. She will have a small family burial in Luling, Texas on Monday, February 3, 2025. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas.
