Sondra SuEllen Stambaugh Johnson, 62, of Amarillo, died Friday, October 20, 2017.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Pete Talley officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Sondra was born on March 7, 1955 in Amarillo to William “Bill” Stambaugh and Barbara Stambaugh (Maxwell). She graduated from Palo Duro in 1973.  She won her battle with cancer on October 20, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” Stambaugh and Barbara Stambaugh Maxwell; her stepfather, Wilbert Maxwell; her husband Charles “Buggs” Johnson, Jr.; her brother Russell Stambaugh; sister-in-law and best friend Donna Stambaugh; and her brother, Wilbert “Burt” Maxwell, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Ashley Bernson and partner Ryan Hamm and son, Josh Wilder; her stepson, Brandon Johnson and wife Kindle; her brother, Stan Stambaugh and wife Ann; special aunt, Sue Gunnels; stepmother, Mary Stambaugh; and sister Julie Daily; her grandbabies, Mason and Aubree Bernson, Asher Hamm, Sommer Wilder Moreno, Joshua Wilder, Max Johnson and Brandon Johnson, Jr.
The family will receive friends 5-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and suggests memorials to the National Kidney Foundation, 801 S. Fillmore St., Amarillo, TX 79101 or Life Gift, 5812 64th St., Lubbock, TX 79424.

    My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Sondra was always so nice to me and she was a sweet lady. She will be missed. She is in a better place now free from pain.

    Prayers for the family. First time meeting Sondra, she thanked me for loving her grandchildren. Aubrey and Mason Bernson. I will never replace you as their grandmother . But I love love them as one. RIP.
