An avid Scouter, in 1995 Shirley was presented the Silver Beaver Award, which is bestowed upon only those who have given continued and unselfish service. She served in many voluntary leadership roles as her children moved through the Cub Scouts and then Boy Scouts programs, but she continued to be an active and accomplished Scouter in her own right, working as Wood Badge assistant director for many years as well as being a staff member at Philmont Scout Ranch.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Glenda Aldridge. She is survived by her husband Glenn and sisters Marylin Elwood of Naples, Florida, and Cathie Godwin of Athens, Texas, sons Jeffrey Wallick and wife Amanda of Amarillo, and Scott Wallick and wife Binita of Dix Hills, New York, and her beloved grandchildren Hayley and Archer Wallick.
