Sherry Lee Turner – December 22, 2017

Sherry Lee Turner, 68, passed away December 22, 2017.
Memorial services will be at 11 am Wednesday December 27, 2017 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Sherry was born in Amarillo, TX to Roy & Virginia Turner.  She attended Amarillo High and later graduated from WT with a bachelor’s degree. She spent a good part of her life teaching and raising her boys in Dalhart. She was her son’s biggest fan. Sherry was a member of First Christian Church of Amarillo.  Her parents preceded her in death.
Sherry is survived by her 2 sons and their wives along with 2 grandchildren and her 3 siblings.   Sons, Daniel & Beth Brannon of Amarillo, Barrett & Sarah Brannon of Fort Worth. Her grandkids Parker & Hattie-Claire were her life.  Her sisters Linda & Tom Wilson of Fort Worth,  Melody Turner of Amarillo, and brother Eddy & Beckie Turner of Amarillo. She was a proud aunt to 7 nieces & nephews.
Her sons’ biggest pride in their mother is that she was Mom to all of their friends.  Their home growing up was a second home to so many.  A place where friends could go talk, eat, and most importantly have the love and support only a mom could provide.   She was there to provide.  Meals, snacks, a listening ear, even discipline if needed.
Her grandchildren were the most recent light of her life.  Parker & Hattie-Claire were so important in her daily life.  Neither son could think of a moment where she had not checked in to see how her grand babies were doing.  She recorded every antic, smile, and milestone.  She cherished every moment.
The family will receive visitors at 7108 Brookfield Dr, Amarillo, TX from 3 pm to 4 pm Wednesday, December 27.

Melody, Daniel and Barrett, I am so sorry for your loss! Sherry was a great neighbor to me years ago. Glad we were reconnected. She will be dearly missed. My most heartfelt condolences to all the family.

I am so sorry for your sadness on these days, but pray God will give you strength for your future. I say this especially to her sons, because it is so hard to lose a mother. However, from what I read you know right where she is and that one day you will be together again. For my classmate, Melody, I am so sorry you will not have your sister here by your side. She is with our Lord and I know you will still tell her the secerts that sisters share. May God bless you and all of your family.
    Sincerely, Valerie Hughes Pogue

Sherry was always willing to do anything to make others laugh! And, laugh we always did!! Her bizarre antics and general craziness were a part of what made her our wonderful, sweet, and well-loved family clown! We will miss you, sweet Sherry. Your departure has left a void that no one else can fill but Heaven is a richer, happier place today because you are there. Parker and Hattie Claire could not have a better Guardian Angel!!

  • Beverly Kelly Posted December 26, 2017 12:24 pm

Sherry was a very special lady, the sister I never had. I cherish every second that I knew her. We understood each other… could laugh or cry together, give each other advise or reprimand the other, with no hesitation, and still love one another. I still can’t believe she is gone. Heaven received a special angel. Sure gonna miss her. Love to all of you. Beverly and Trinitie

Sherry was often a substitute teacher for my mom (Sharon Cole) in Dalhart. I know my mother thought very highly of Sherry and always appreciated her. I recently got to know Sherry and could tell how much she loved her family. My mother has already passed, but when I met Sherry she told me stories about my mom when they worked together. I truly appreciated her sharing her memories with me.
My prayers are with Sherry’s entire family.
