Saralyn Owens Moore died peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born October 10, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Henry and Nellice Owens.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at Llano Cemetery with Rev. Rusty Dickerson officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Saralyn grew up in Carthage, TX and then attended North Texas State University where she met the love of her life, Ben Moore. She later earned her master’s degree from West Texas State University. Saralyn was an active member of Saint Paul Methodist Church. She and Ben helped establish the Friendship Sunday School class. She also sang and played bells in the church choir.
Saralyn taught second grade at Western Plateau for 25 years. During her spare time, she enjoyed many hobbies. Not only was she an accomplished piano player, she also enjoyed acting at the Amarillo Little Theatre where she secured numerous acting roles.
After retirement, she continued to act and also enjoyed singing in the chorus at the Amarillo Opera.
She and Ben enjoyed traveling stateside and abroad and spending time with their grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Henry Owens and Nellice Ross Owens; stepmom, Reba Smith Owens; husband, Ben Moore; son, Mark Moore; and furry four-legged friend, Charley.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Fogg (Stan) of Amarillo, TX, and Sallye Fleming (Jim) of Huntsville, AL; daughter-in-law, Julie Moore of Burleson, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Fogg of Dallas, TX, Megan Sherwood (Dan) of Amarillo, TX, Mary Gross (Chris) of Amarillo, TX, Katy Frees (Nathan) of Birmingham, AL, Sara Cox (Andy) of Nashville, TN, and James Fleming (Sarah) of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Easton and Walker Sherwood, Holden, Hudson, and Harrison Gross, Tala and Ari Frees, and Sullivan Cox; and special cousin, Walta Cook of Carthage, TX.
The family would like to thank the caretakers at the Craig Senior Living and BSA Hospice.
