Sarah Ann Hughes

Sarah Ann Hughes, 80, of Amarillo, TX went to Heaven on October 7, 2024.

Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at10:00 AM, Friday, October 11, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Interment will be in the Chillicothe Cemetery later that day at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Sarah was born on January 24, 1944 in Quanah TX to Alva Ray and Mollie Etta Barnett. She grew up and graduated high school in Chillicothe TX, where she met and later married Robert Lewis Hughes. After marriage, the couple moved to Amarillo, TX where she began her career as Guyon Saunders’ secretary, and joined him at Corporate Systems for over a decade. She later retired after many years with the US Postal Service. Sarah gained her BS in Human Resources and was an active member of Toastmasters in Amarillo for several years. 

Sarah loved people and enjoyed spending time with them and her family, and traveling. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patsy, her brother Mack and her great-grandson Jules Moore. 

Sarah is survived by her daughter Robbie Ann Beckner and husband Sterling of Amarillo and her son Robert Lewis Hughes II of Amarillo. Grandchildren Amanda Moore, Jaeden Beckner and Brittnee, Mason Beckner and Morgan and Damian Hughes. Great-grandchildren Hannah Moore and Jacob Burton, and a lot of cousins, nieces and nephews.
