Sandra Kay Francis, 73, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on March 7, 2025, peacefully in the comfort of her home. Her heart was completely broken and unable to heal from the recent loss of her husband on November 8, 2024.
Funeral services will be at 2pm, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Internment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Sandra was born April 15, 1951, in Amarillo, Texas Sandra enjoyed being on the cheer squad where she later graduated from Palo Duro, Highschool. On August 27, 1970, she married the love of her life, De-Armond Henry Francis of Amarillo. Sandra and De spent the first 13 years of marriage living their lives to fullest. They enjoyed buying fun cars and motorcycles. They spent much of their time fishing, water skiing, and camping. They took many fishing trips to the Texas coast, and snow skiing trips to Colorado. In 1982, they welcomed their first daughter Candace De-Ann. A couple of years later they welcomed their second daughter Shanna Nicole. Their children were her life, purpose, and main focus. They continued to make great memories on the Texas coast as well as at local lakes where they taught the girls to fish and water ski. At home, De had built a big underground pool with a diving board, which became the gathering point for friends and family. Sandra had a great work ethic. She spent over thirty years as a benefits coordinator for Northwest Texas Hospital. Sandra was a loving, caring, and most of all a giving person. She catered to everyone, especially her children. In 2010, she and her husband bought some land and built their dream home. Surrounded with wildlife and nature, they had created their sanctuary. She was blessed to have spent precious time with her two grandchildren. She cherished every moment she had with them and showed them the love they have for the outdoors.
She is preceded in death by her husband De-Armond Henry Francis, her mother Lola Pear Downey, her father Thomas Seymour Downey; and brothers James A. “Jimmy” Downey, and Thomas L. Downey.
Sandra is survived by daughters Candace De-Ann Kern and husband Matthew of Rockport, Texas and Shanna Mujanovic and husband Hazi of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren Vivian Amina Mujanovic and Myles Jackson Mujanovic.
