Samuel Escobar (Sammy) Sr., 73, of Amarillo, TX passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. The burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Sammy was born December 14, 1950, to Alfred and Consuelo Escobar in Georgetown, TX.
He met Patty Martinez, of Corpus Christi, TX, and were married July 11, 1970. They had four children, Patricia, Jennifer, Samuel Jr., and Christopher, and from there the family abundantly continued to grow: having fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Sammy was a carpet installer for almost 50 years. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and looked forward to Sunday football, family, and a big home-cooked dinner, listening to Tejano music, and dancing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Escobar Jr.; his parents, Alfredo and Consuelo Escobar; a sister, Mary Betancourt; brothers, Henry, Oscar, Gilbert, and Alfredo Jr. Escobar.
Sammy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patty Escobar; daughters, Patricia (Alex) Velasquez, and Jennifer (Evaristo) Duran; son, Christopher Escobar; grandsons, Manuel (Reiven) Velasquez, Ryan (Breana) Velasquez, Richard (Breanna) Duran, Evaristo Duran Jr. (Ashlynn V.), Joseph Duran, Sammy Escobar III, Savannah Escobar, Adrian Escobar, Christopher Escobar; granddaughters, Samantha Olvera (Arturo Montenegro), Alexis (Eric) Arredondo, Carmen Duran, Andrea and Alyssa Escobar; great-grandchildren, Santiago Velasquez, Noah Escobar, Manuel Duran and Andralynn, Raelynn Duran and Giovanni Juarez, Jayvn, Amirah, Ezekiel Velasquez, Adalee, Makenzie, MJ Lule, Jonah, Caleb, Micah, Aiyanna, EJ Arredondo, Joshlynn, Joshua, and JJ Olvera; sisters, Francis (Robin) Escobar, of Dallas, TX, Olga Trevino of Auburn Hills, MI, and Susie Escobar, of Orange, CA; and brothers, Fernando Escobar, of Dallas, TX, and Richard (Kimberly) Escobar, of Amarillo, TX.
