Sammy Ray Line

Sammy Ray Line, 93, of Amarillo, TX passed away December 18, 2024.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 20, 2024 at Memorial Park East Mausoleum, 6969 E. I-40. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Sammy was born November 20, 1931 in Pampa, TX to Sam and Alma Line. He graduated from Borger High School and joined the United States Airforce stationed in Puerto Rico. He married Mary Virginia Meyer in 1954. She passed on June 4, 2023. Sammy had been the mayor of White Deer where he owned a hardware store. Sammy worked for Amarillo Globe News, flew airplanes, worked as a DJ at KDJW am Radio, served as a Church of Christ Minister, and would take rare vinyl albums and make them cd’s. He married Jan Newsom Covalt on August 31, 2023.

Sammy is survived by his wife Jan Line; children, Laura Britto and husband Frank of Amarillo, TX, Sam Line II of Amarillo, TX, Mark Line of San Marcos, TX, and Mary Ann Nickerson of Amarillo, TX; sister, Nancy Blinker of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Shane, Shannon, Natalie, Danielle, Shawn, Mark Jr., Landen, Matt, Chris, and Falon; 17 great-grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren.
