Roy Russell Underwood, Sr., 73, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Dodson Cemetery in Dodson with Dale Miller officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Roy was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Dodson to Thomas Laffeatt and Frances Underwood. He married Linda Knight in December 1957, in Wellington. They had six children. He was a butcher for many years and then sold cars and cleaned them up for years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Underwood; two sisters, Luciell King and Jessie McKutchen; and two great-grandsons.
Survivors include three daughters, Janis Underwood and Patty Ackers, both of Amarillo and Peggy Chavez and husband Will of Grapevine; three sons, Thomas Underwood and wife Rhonda and Johnny Underwood and wife Brenda of Amarillo, all of Amarillo, and Roy Underwood of Oklahoma; two ex-wives, Linda Davis of Amarillo and Loretta Stratton of Hollis, Oklahoma; a brother, William “Bill” Underwood and wife Glyndel of Amarillo; five sisters, Maudie Barefoot of Clarendon, Mildred Barnett of California, Mary Miller of Amarillo, Georgie Simmons of Amarillo and Nellie Langford of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a bunch of nieces and nephews.
