Roy Wayne Larkan, Sr.

September 3, 1950 — April 18, 2025

Amarillo

Roy Wayne Larkan Sr. took his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven early in the morning of April 18, 2025, due to complications related to dementia.

Family visitation and viewing is planned for Tuesday April 22nd from 6-7PM, and funeral services on Wednesday April 23rd at 2:00PM both at Boxwell Brothers Chapel located at 2800 Paramount Boulevard, Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo, Texas.

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, while his parents were traveling for work, Roy was one of ten children of Orville “Shorty” Larkan and Margaret Johnson. Though born in New Mexico, his roots were firmly planted in Arkansas and Amarillo, Texas, where he was raised and later raised his own family. A proud student of Palo Duro High School, Roy was a lifelong member of the North Amarillo community.

A true jack of most trades, Roy spent most of his career working in steel erection, a path shaped by his father’s company, Larkan Steel Erectors. He had a sharp mind for mechanics and electronics, and was always found tinkering with something—whether it was electrical gadgets, heavy equipment, or anything in between. He loved rock and roll music and was never far from a guitar. But his greatest passion was cars. Roy could identify just about any make and model with ease and delight.

Roy was married to his high school sweetheart, Faith, the mother of his four children. Their love spanned decades, and he lovingly cared for her during her battle with breast cancer until her passing in 2009.

Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Faith; his parents; his infant daughter, Tracey; his siblings Dennis, Donnie, and Brenda; and his nephew, Kenny.

He is survived by his children: Kendra Larkan, Bobbie Perrin and husband Dalles, and Roy Larkan Jr. with significant other Jennie Edgar. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Tyler Perrin and wife Tailore, Joey Ullibarri, Dalles Perrin Jr., Allie Larkan and husband Josh Fernandez, Tiffany Guerry and husband Jimmy, Amanda Hernandez and husband Jovanny, Lauren Delgado, and Karah Bellah. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Gabrial, Elijah, Cloe, Micheal, Kalie, Jade, Veda, Rush, Haiden, Scout, Boone, and baby Jimmy.

Family visitation and viewing is planned for Tuesday April 22nd from 6-7PM, and funeral services on Wednesday April 23rd at 2:00PM both at Boxwell Brothers Chapel located at 2800 Paramount Boulevard. Graveside services to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at The Cottages at Quail Creek and the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center—especially the ICU, 3 South, and the Hospice team—for the compassionate care shown to Roy and the family during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Roy’s memory to The Cottages at Quail Creek.
