She was born on July 20, 1942, in Kyle, Texas, to Rosalio S. Escobar and Emiliana G. Escobar, and lived a life filled with love, strength, and devotion to her family.
Rose was the proud mother of seven children—Joe Jr. Ortiz, Linda Ortiz Hernandez, Ester Esparza, Maryann Garcia, Rickie Ortiz, Nancy Madron, and MaryHelen Ortiz. She was also a doting grandmother to 27 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 66 great-grandchildren. Rose's love for her family was immeasurable, often expressing that she loved her grandkids and great-grandkids even more than her own children—a sentiment that was clear to all who knew her.
Rose was a woman of many passions. She was an avid cook and sewing enthusiast; she enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzles, gardening, and tending to her flowers. Rose also loved casinos, the Price Is Right, and classic westerns. She loved playing cards, was always up for a good game, and cherished the simple pleasures in life. In her younger years, she had a great fondness for concerts, where she created memories that lasted a lifetime.
Her blunt honesty was part of what made her so unforgettable. A clean freak at heart, Rose was known for her pride in keeping her home spotless, ensuring everything was in order with meticulous care. She was a strong woman who never hesitated to speak her mind, and her children would often laugh about the ongoing debate over who was her favorite—each one vying for her unique affection and attention.
Rose was also an amazing wife, having shared her life with her late husband, Joe Trevino Ortiz. Their love story began when she worked as a housekeeper at a hotel, and he was the cook. Together, they built a strong, loving home, and she will now be buried beside her beloved husband, reunited with him for eternity.
Rose's strength, wisdom, and love will never be forgotten. She leaves a legacy of unwavering commitment to her family and a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless others who were touched by her warmth and spirit. Rose now joins her husband, Joe, in eternal rest.
