It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Ronnie Byron Hogue on October 5th, 2024. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ronnie was born on May 24th, 1961, in Dumas, Texas to Melvin and Patty Hogue. His family lived in Sunray, Texas where he spent his formative years. He attended and graduated from Sunray High School and later in life became an EMT and the head of Security at Asarco where he spent almost 30 years. Throughout his career he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. Ronnie was a friend to all.

Ronnie was an amazing father. He was a beacon of gentleness and humility. He was devoted to his family and was present for his boys whenever he could be. We know he was so proud of his sons and the men they have become - We will miss your determination to be a good father Ronnie, but we know it lives on in your sons.

In his free time, Ronnie loved to tinker. You would see him under the hood of a riding lawn mower or finding a way to fix what was broken more times than not. He always enjoyed sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for those lawn mowers with anyone who would listen - We will miss those conversations.

He had a love for finding hidden treasures at estate sales, and many times would find a little something for the people he loved - we will miss getting a Ronnie picked original.

These last couple of years Ronnie has been the face of a little cigar shop in Canyon where he lived. Anyone was welcome, and although Ronnie was a quiet man, he seemed to come alive at that little shop. From a welcome, to a chat about a good cigar, and simply just getting to know someone, customers turned to friends. In his final days you would see him perched on the little beach out front having a smoke and waiting for the next good conversation to walk through the door - We will miss your presence.

He was a sweet and loving Pe-Paw to all of his grandchildren. He would always have a little treat for them, or some little nugget of wisdom to share - Your grand babies will miss your sweet spirit Pe-Paw.

A few years ago, he fulfilled his dream of having a Harley. Many days you would find him riding his trike, wearing a bandana and sunshades listening to some classic rock - We will miss seeing you ride up on that trike.

He never left without a goodbye. After any visit with Ronnie, every goodbye was given with a big hug and a “Be Careful.”

Goodbye Ronnie - you are missed, and you are deeply loved.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Byron Hogue and Patty Mae Hogue of Sunray, Texas.

Ronnie is survived by two sons, Ryon and wife Anna Hogue, Kristopher and wife Sarah Hogue; mother of his children, Sheila; grandkids, Kaiden, Jazmine, Kristian, Ryker, Karter, and Emett Hogue all of Amarillo; three siblings, Dale, Bruce, and Robin; as well as many cousins and beloved friends.
