Ronald O'dell Chennault – February 6, 2013


Ronald O’dell Chennault, 70, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Ty Jones officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Chennault was born July 6, 1942, in Amarillo, to Jimmy and Willodeane Chennault.  He married Ginger Grant on Aug. 19, 1960 and together had lived in Amarillo for 53 years.  Ronald was a retired electronics technician and a licensed private pilot.
Ronald was active in Amarillo Jaycees, was a Tall Texan, Director of the Year Soap Box Derby Ramp, and Impound Chairman. He coached Kids, Inc., and was named Coach of the Year in 1976.  Ronald was past president of the Vette Club, and Amarillo Area Corvette Club, where he set up Special Olympics as the given charity.  He was a founding member of Amarillo React and was active in donating his time to various charities.  Ronald served on Amarillo College volunteer board for more than 20 years and has gone to jail for Jerry’s Kids.  Ronald was past vice president of Panhandle Council of Car Clubs which donates time through various car clubs by showing classic cars and whose donations go directly to various charities.  Ronald’s hobby was restoring, showing and racing old cars.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ginger Chennault, of Amarillo; children, Kerry Chennault, Ronnie Chennault and wife Tammie, and Shanda Hall and husband Tim; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Emma, Lacy and Daniel Hall, Justin Chennault and wife Kirsten, Joshua Chennault, Zachary Chennault and fiancé Marci Martinez, Tiffany O’Bonnon and husband Eddie, Erik and Aubrey Chennault; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation of the Texas Plains, 411 S Fillmore St  Amarillo, TX 79101; or to American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St  Amarillo, TX 79109.
