Robert was born in Cortez, Colorado, on September 30, 1958, to Robert Lee and Reva June (Ary) Kiddie. He soon moved to Farmington, New Mexico and lived there until he was 6-years-old. After his mom married Ed Floersheim, he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico until the age of 12, and relocated to Clovis, New Mexico in 1970. While in Clovis, he attended Gattis Junior High and graduated from Clovis High School. He was quite the athlete while he was in school. He loved running track. While in high school, he met Gina Chavez. They married in 1976 and welcomed their first child, Selena. Two years later, they welcomed a son, Robert “Bobby”. Their marriage ended in divorce, but they remained friends until her death in 2018. After their divorce, he moved to Denver, Colorado and lived there for 27 years until moving to Amarillo to be closer to his kids and grandkids.
Robert was a natural storyteller and jokester. He had a way of connecting with people. He was also fluent in a few languages: English, Spanish, and Sarcasm (a deep-rooted, family trait). He enjoyed playing golf and card games, specifically Rummy. He was often considered to be a great listener and had a way of helping others. He found a higher purpose in helping others through Alcoholics Anonymous. Until his death, he attended and served in AA, including mentoring and sponsoring others.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Kiddie, his mother, June Floersheim, his stepfather, Ed Floersheim, his sister, Elizabeth Floersheim, the mother of his children, Gina Gwinn, and his beloved dogs, Gracie and Sebastian.
