Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Rick was born December 21, 1953 in Hale County, TX to Lonnie and Janice Bell. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1972. He then earned his Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a minor in Religion from Abilene Christian University. He worked on the family farm for 15 years and retired from State Farm Insurance Company as an auto and homeowner claims adjuster after over 30 years. Once retired, Rick moved to Amarillo from Lubbock, purchased a home with a big backyard to plant flowers and gardens. He loved riding bicycles, tending to his garden, and working in his backyard with his dog, Gensie Jo. Every day before sundown, Rick and Gensie Jo would go feed the birds in the backyard. Hundreds of birds would show up and line the fence in the yard to be fed, he thought it was magical! He loved to gaze at the stars, the moon, and especially the sunset. Rick enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels and Good Neighbors Program with State Farm. His pride and joy was watching his Granddaughter, Taytum Hope Bell play basketball with her teammates that all called him Papaw. He was a huge Amarillo High Basketball fan and WTAMU Lady Buffs fan. He kept stats for every single game that Taytum played in basketball, with some exaggerated numbers at times ha-ha!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Janice Bell; and sister, Lori Huseman.
Rick is survived by his son, Caleb Bell and wife Kim of Dimmitt, TX; daughter, Kacie Bell and Jermaine Williams of Amarillo, TX; brothers, Mike Bell of Hereford, TX, Jeff Bell and wife Jennifer of Greenville, TX, Jim Huseman of Lubbock, TX, Zito and Kathy of Florida; sister, Susan of Canada; grandchildren, Justice O’rion Bell, Lonnie Jacob Bell, Jolie Lashay Bell, Breeleigh Alyssa Bell, and Taytum Hope Bell; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his precious dog, Gensie Jo.
