Richard was born the youngest of three boys on September 20, 1943 in Amarillo to Ronald and Opal Day. Raised in Amarillo and a graduate of Palo Duro High, Richard began his career in the automotive parts industry at Jupe Automotive. He later would go to begin DayCheck and co-found Specialized Therapy Services of Amarillo. He married Karen Carter on October 7, 1972 and was father to two sons, Tim and Michael Day. Known to family and friends as Dicky, his sense of humor and welcoming spirit always left an impact. But the role he excelled at the most was that of Papa. No matter if it was his grandchild, friends visiting, or the children at Specialized Therapy Service, Papa would always greet you with a smile on his face and love in his heart. Papa was loved and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe Day.
