Rebecca (Becky) Jean King, 84, of Vernon, Texas passed away on July 26 in Amarillo, Texas.
Becky was born in Waco, Texas to E.E. and Ruby Barnes on October 24, 1933. She married C.W. Dorrell in 1950, and had her only child, Charles Wayne King. In 1953, C.W. passed, and Becky worked as a leg and hand model to provide for Chuck. In 1956, she met and married her lifelong sweetheart, William (Bill) King. Bill and Becky lived in their home on the farm outside of Vernon, until Bill’s passing in 2000. Becky had a long and adventurous life. She made a home wherever she went, and created family from the friends she met along the way.
Rebecca Jean King is preceded in death by Bill King, William Fitzgerald, Ruby and E.E. Barnes, Tom Barnes, and others she loved dearly.
Becky is survived by her son, Charles Wayne (Chuck) King and wife Teri of Amarillo, brother Jim Barnes and family of Burleson, granddaughter Mary Elizabeth (Libby) King Linker and husband Justin of Lubbock.
A private family interment will take place in Vernon, Texas at the King family farm. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers funeral home.
