Randall Steven Atchley “Steve”, 70, of Amarillo, TX passed away on July 9th, 2023.

Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13th, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Joseph Gooch officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Steve was born in Amarillo, TX on November 9th, 1952, to Wilda Rose Atchley and Randall Duane Atchley and graduated from Caprock High School in 1971.  Shortly after graduation, Steve enlisted in the United State Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs, CO from 1972-1976.  He met his bride of 47 years, Martha Ann, during his service and the two were married on November 23

, 1974.  They started their family, welcoming their first son, Randall Steven Atchley II, before moving back to Amarillo.  Sons Timothy and Matthew soon followed, and the family resided in Amarillo ever since.

After the Army, Steve worked for Asarco, Texaco, in the car business, and finally as a Logistics Manager for the Amarillo VA Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 2020.

Steve loved to be outdoors, and could be found at the lake camping, fishing, or hunting or taking the family on long road trips for beach vacations.  Steve was also known for his love of finding “bargains”, collecting items, and could be found touring weekend garage and estate sales as a hobby.  Steve coached his kid’s sports teams, attended his all his grandkids ball games and functions, and was known as a great family man.  Steve was a devoted fan of The Texas Longhorns and the University of Alabama “Roll Tide.”  He loved his friends and family fiercely, had an infectious smile, and unmistakable voice and laugh.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Atchley; parents, Randall Duane and Wilda Rose Atchley.

Survivors include his siblings, Ronnie [Judy] Atchley, Rosemary Fewell, and Stanley Atchley; sons, Randall Steven Atchley II [Melissa] Atchley, Timothy Alan Atchley, and Matthew Blake Atchley; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Reece, Makenzee [Nathan] Alarcon, and McCaylie Atchley; and many nieces and nephews.
