Phyllis Faye Jones

Phyllis Faye Jones, 90, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on March 21, 2023.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 24, 2023, at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

PJ was born in Durant, Oklahoma on May 8, 1932, to Ida Pearl Simmons and Grover Frank Spradlin. She attended Phillips High School. PJ married Larry Jones in Amarillo, Texas on June 23, 1949. Together they had one daughter, Nancy.

PJ worked for the Randall County Tax Office from 1989-1997, where you could find her in heels and a suit each day. After retirement, PJ went to work for early voting in Randall County where she spent the next ten years. Early voting gave PJ the ability to get to know everyone in Randall County. PJ never missed an opportunity to vote. She enjoyed following politics, whether that was by reading the newspaper or watching different news stations to stay up to date on current events. PJ was very tech savy and was able to follow politics and current events through many different platforms. She was always one step ahead when it came to technology.

PJ was a proud military wife, mother-in-law, and grandmother. PJ would spend time reading about and following the military service of Larry, Tom, and Matt. PJ loved her family and friends greatly. Many of her daughter’s friends became close friends of PJ.

birthday, Nancy and PJ were given the opportunity to travel together, visiting Paris, Rome, Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, and England. She loved being able to engage in activities of the world.

PJ was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Jones; son-in-law, Tom Robinson; and brothers, Dorsey Spradlin, and Don Spradlin.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Robinson, of Keller, Texas; grandson, Matthew Robinson and wife Larissa, of Keller, Texas; great-granddaughters, Bailey and Katherine Robinson, of Keller, Texas; and nephew, Mike Spradlin.
