Phillip Dale “Phil” Boothe

Phillip Dale “Phil” Boothe, age 88, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Phil was born October 18, 1933, in Dimmitt, Texas to CA and Winnie Boothe.   He married Mary Elnora White in 1954 in Canyon, Texas. They met through the church and found a lifelong love in each other.   He served in the United States Navy on the USS Lexington and traveled around the globe. After his service, he followed in his father’s footsteps and built a career as a paint contractor. He worked throughout the Amarillo area and the panhandle of Texas-producing high-quality work and was beloved by his clients. Phil, Elnora, and their family built their house in the Palisades in 1963 where they raised their four children. Their four grandchildren also spent many summers and holidays in the home with their grandparents. He lived in that house until he passed. Phil was heavily involved in the Palisades Baptist Church as a Deacon and helped build the new church building that is now the Palisades Community Center. He was treasurer of the Palisades Village, Palisades Club, and the Church for many years. Through his work with the Palisades, he formed several lifelong friendships. After retiring, following a long and successful career, Phil started taking oil painting classes in 1984 with Sandy McLean-producing several beautiful paintings.  While home, he loved watching all of the “critters” who call the Palisades home, ranging from pretty singing birds, to raccoons, skunks, possums, foxes, wild turkey, and even the occasional cougar. His hobbies include woodworking, building, gardening, and leather work.

Preceding him in death is father CA Boothe, mother Winnie Boothe, brothers Ronald and Don Boothe, sister Helen Boothe, grandson Brandon Jordan, and son-in-law Davy Bell.

Phil is survived by his beautiful wife Elnora “Ellie” Boothe, children Dwight Boothe, Suzy Boothe Bell, Shari Keyner and husband Hans, and Robert Boothe; grandchildren Justin and wife Michelle, Trent and wife Amy, Stephanie, and Mia; great-grandchildren Ava, Dayton, Cooper, Raylee, and Parker; and sister-in-law Judie Boothe and niece Marci VanDer Mevleon.

“Phil’s infectious smile will be remembered by many.”
