Peter August Dallas, 88, died peacefully surrounded by his daughters on November 3, 2023 in Amarillo, TX.

Private burial will be held at Llano Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with Father Jared Houze officiating. There will be a reception to follow. Arrangements are under the directions of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Pete Dallas was born April 27, 1935, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to Maria and Gust Dallas.  Pete graduated from Southwest High School in Saint Louis and the University of Missouri where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration.  He received a Master of Business Administration in finance and economics from West Texas State University and attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU. Pete married Patricia Culp Dallas on March 14, 1957 in Amarillo, TX and was married for 59 years before she passed away on April 23, 2016.

Pete began his career in banking as an assistant cashier at First National Bank, ultimately retiring as Senior Vice President of Commercial Loans. He also volunteered in many leadership roles within the Amarillo community. He served as president of the Amarillo Country Club, St. Andrew’s Day School, and the Amarillo Independent School District for numerous years. He participated as a board member for the Girl Scouts, he served as a director of Hastings Books and Records, he maintained his membership in the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, he taught professional courses at West Texas State University, and he was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. During Pete’s free time, he enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams, and in his later years he adored spending time with his grandchildren. Pete had a lifelong passion for golf; he could be found on the course multiple times per week with his buddies who he played with for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Dallas, and his sister Sofia Caras.

Survivors include a daughter Debbie Plackitt & husband Tom, a daughter Teddy Fox, a son Peter Dallas, and a daughter Jennifer Buckthal & husband John, all of Amarillo, TX, a daughter Ann Dallas of Scottsdale, AZ and a son August Dallas of San Antonio, TX, a sister Teddy Voss & husband John of Tuscon, AZ and a sister Grace Caporall of Saint Louis, MO. Twelve grandchildren: Gunny Sgt. Robert Lee Swift & wife Claire of Canberra, Australia, Dallas York & wife Emily of Phoenix, AZ, Justin York & wife Cinamon of Scottsdale, AZ, Hunter Dallas & wife Megan, Jenna Dallas, Blake Dallas all of Dallas, TX, Anne Chilton & husband Thomas of San Antonio, TX, Caki Watkins & husband Andrew of Raleigh, NC, Madeline Bennett & husband Andrew of Dallas, TX, Quinn Seidman of Austin, TX, Haley Seidman and Bret Seidman both of Scottsdale, AZ. Fourteen great grandchildren: Sydnee York, Madden York, Eden York, Annie Dallas, Gloria Swift, George Dallas, James Watkins, Tripp Chilton, Eliza Watkins, Hazel Bennett, Charlie Dallas, Patricia Swift, Margery Swift, and Harrison Bennett. One great great grandchild: River York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Amarillo Children’s Home, 3400 Bowie St., Amarillo, TX 79109, or to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1601 Georgia Street, Amarillo, TX 79102.
