Peggy Sue Wilson

Peggy Sue Wilson, 76, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on June 13, 2023.

Private family services will be held.

Peggy was born in Dallas, Texas on April 11, 1947, to William and Margaret Wilson. In her early years, she lived in Santa Fe, NM. After the death of her father, she and her sister Patti moved to Marietta, OH to live with their aunt Alice Ray Wilson Garrison. Peggy graduated from Marietta High School in 1965 and attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

She later moved to the Denver, CO area, where she had two sons, Scott and Kurt with her first husband and worked for Cyprus Amax. She then moved to Amarillo where she met James Honea and together they raised a daughter, Megan.

Genealogy and Animal Rescue became her passion. She tirelessly worked to reunite lost pets with their family, or find homes for those pets without one. She was a strong advocate for a No Kill Shelter, and made so many wonderful friends in the Pet Rescue community.

Peggy Sue was an incredible, caring, and creative person. A wonderful mother to her children, with a fiery passion and a big heart for all of the people and projects close to her.  She was loved by many and her devotion to her family, friends and animals in need was beyond measure. She will be greatly and sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother William Hertner.

She is survived by her daughter Megan Wilson of Amarillo; her sons Kurt Schramm (his wife Sandy) and Scott Schramm of Denver; five grandchildren Brad (his wife Katie), Heather (her husband Westin), Jacob, Noelle, and Andrew; one great-grandchild Carter; her husband James Honea of Amarillo; her sister Patti Timmons; Cousins Mindy, Paul, Rodger, Alan, Stuart, Mark, Jane, Linda, and their families; and of course her furbabies.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the causes closest to her heart, Lost Pets of Amarillo, or Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Amarillo.
