Peggy Lou Boehm

Peggy Lou Boehm, 76, passed away in Amarillo, Texas on September 13, 2023.

Peggy was born in Lynch, Kentucky on January 30, 1947.  As the daughter of a Naval Officer, she moved often during her early years, finally making Amarillo her home.

After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1965, Peggy went on to attend Amarillo College.  Upon completion, she attended the University of Oklahoma where she was an active member of Alpha Phi Sorority.  She was also voted as an all-university beauty by judge Warren Beatty.

The friendly skies then came calling, changing Peggy’s career path, watching her join TWA as a North American stewardess.  A few short years later, after moving from the West Coast to the East Coast and back again, Peggy started a family in what would become her new home of Playa del Rey, California.  She spent many hours volunteering – from Girl Scout troop leader to dance mom and all sports in between, Peggy remained actively involved in her daughters’ lives.

As she watched her daughters grow and start their own families, Peggy cherished most the time she spent as a Nana to Abigail, Noah, and Rebekah and Oma to Lucien, her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, gardening, conservative politics, baking, and crocheting.  She was also a member of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Peggy is preceded in death by her father, Lucien C. Boehm, Jr., and her mother, Mary Jane Stewart Boehm.  She is survived by two daughters: Stacey Hall (nee Gawelko) and husband Trevor, currently of Lakeway, Texas and Monica Gawelko-Neely and husband Bryan, currently of Midlothian, Texas and four grandchildren: Abigail, Noah, and Rebekah Campbell and Lucien “Luc” Neely.

Private family burial will take place Monday, September 18, 2023.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Humane Society or the Special Olympics.
