Pearl Katherine "Kay" (Goode) McQueen – October 10, 2017

Pearl Katherine “Kay” (Goode) McQueen, 85, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Corky Holland of First Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Kay was born to Albert Jackson and Pearl Elizabeth (Gage) Goode on Oct. 8, 1932, in Paris, TX.  She moved with her family from Paris to Hedley, TX in 1935, where she graduated from High School in 1949.  She was the youngest of 8 children.
Kay married E.L. McQueen, Jr. in Memphis, TX on Jan. 1, 1949.  Kay was a very organized and independent person.  She graduated from several business schools and worked for several large corporations.  Kay also worked for several school districts including Amarillo ISD, Memphis ISD and Dallas ISD.  After retiring from Dallas ISD in 1995, she moved to Amarillo.
Kay is survived by one sister, Vickie McKinsey, of Dallas; two sons, Mark and wife Sondra, of Amarillo and Max and wife Stacy, of Wheeler; four grandchildren, Chelsea and Jacob, of Amarillo, Creede and Andrew, of Denver, Gavin and Jennifer, of Tulsa.  Kay was also a great-grandmother to four children, Jude and Kaydance, of Amarillo and Annabel and Lucas, of Tulsa.  Kay is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Kay especially loved her First Baptist Church Sunday School family and her close Park Place friends.
Where would we be without our family and friends?  God bless you, Mom.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Baptist Church.
