Pat was born to Hubert and Jorja Turner on November 24, 1932, in Roscoe, TX. When she was 18, she met and later married W.C. Johnson on Dec. 3, 1950, in Hale Center. As a young wife and mother, she balanced her responsibilities and still graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist College and a master’s degree from Texas Tech University, both with 4. She and W.C. farmed in Plainview, and Pat enjoyed a 23-year teaching career for Plainview Independent School District. She taught 3rd and 5th grades at Hillcrest Elementary, and 6th grade Social Studies at Ash Elementary. Pat was dedicated to serving her church, and she was the organist at College Heights Baptist Church for many years while her husband W.C. sang in the choir. They retired and moved to Amarillo in 1992 and settled into Park Place Towers in 2016. They attended First Baptist Church-Amarillo.
Pat loved spending time with her family, hosting special dinners, playing bridge with friends, and playing the piano. She sewed beautifully and made her daughters’ school clothes.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, W.C. Johnson; daughter, Deborah Holt and husband David; her parents, Hubert and Jorja Turner; and brothers, Joe Turner and James Lee Turner.
Survivors include daughter, Amy McOwen and husband Gordon; sister, Maxie Walls and husband Bill; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family extends great thanks to the staff at Park Place Towers and The Ware for the special care they provided to Pat during the past few years.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church, 1208 Tyler St., Amarillo, Texas 79101.
