Patricia Ann Contreras, affectionately known as Patty, Mema, or Pat, passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2024 at the age of 83. Born on August 28th, 1941 in Armstrong County, Pat was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met.
Pat’s life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family and her zest for life. She dedicated many years to Zimmer, and contributed many hours as a nurse's aid at Oakdale Elementary. Her role as a devoted mother and grandmother is what she cherished most. Her home was a haven of joy and laughter, filled with the delicious aromas of her cooking and the sound of her infectious laughter.
Pat was known for her warmth, kindness, resilience, smile, laughter, and wisdom, which made her a cherished friend and confidant to many. Her hobbies included collecting bells, bunnies, and making candy at Christmas time, which she was always eager to share.
She is survived by her four children including: Mitch Contreras of Amarillo, TX, Carla Brittain and husband Chuck Brittain of Amarillo, TX, Misty Parr and husband Steve Parr of Amarillo, TX, and Christy McCutchen and husband Allan McCutchen of Spring, TX. Seven grandchildren including: Blake and Christina Brittain of Littleton, CO, Logan and Carli Brittain of Dallas, TX, Arian and Jewan Smith of Amarillo, TX, Austin Parr of Amarillo, TX, Charleston and Mickey Woods of Amarillo, TX, Carlie McCutchen, and Paxton McCutchen both of Spring, TX. Four great-grandchildren including, Maude Brittain, Sophia Brittain, Charles Brittain, and Suede Woods. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daves Contreras, her mother and father, Opal and Norris Spurgeon, and her sister and brother in law, ZoJuanna and Jim Womble.
Pat’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her spirit will be remembered through the countless lives she touched and the many fond memories she created.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all those who played a huge role in taking care of Pat over the years. These people include: Karen Wells, the staff at The Sycamore, the staff at The Ware, and many more.
Visitation will be from 5-6:00 PM, Friday, September 20, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S. Georgia St. The burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her memory and sharing stories of her remarkable life. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Georgia Baptist Church: Chaplaincy Ministry, or any other charity of your choice.
Patricia Ann Contreras will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love she gave and the joy she brought into the world.
