Olga Cantu, age 72, was born in Robstown, Texas on April 24, 1951, to Daniel Perez, Sr. and Maria Arrisola Estrada. She departed this life peacefully on June 29, 2023, surrounded by family.
Olga married her sweetheart, Pete Cantu, Jr. on July 17, 1975,
in Hereford, Texas.
Olga affectionately known as “Momo” to her family will be remembered for her big caring heart and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Olga enjoyed going to garage sales, thrift shopping, reading the daily newspaper, watching her favorite soaps, The Bold and the Beautiful and the Young and The Restless, and spending time with her great-grandchildren and her chihuahua, Rocky.
Olga had an infectious personality and would make friends with everyone she met.
Olga was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Perez, Sr.; mother, Maria Estrada; stepfather, Paul Estrada, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Jesusa and Felipe Cantu; brother, Jose Angel Carbajal; brother-in-law, David Soto; nephews, John David Soto and Bryan Cantu; and great-grandson, Alexavier Jace.
Olga is survived by her husband of 47 years, Pete Cantu, Jr.; two children, Nilda Mejia & Husband Benito Mejia III and Joe Henry Aguayo and wife Tammy Aguayo; three grandchildren, Aja Diaz and husband James Diaz; Demi Aguayo and husband Christian Higgins, all of Amarillo; and Caleb Balderaz of Allen, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Madison Higgins, Kobe Diaz, Kaidon Diaz, Kennedy Valdez, Kaeson Higgins, and James Diaz, Jr.; siblings, Yolanda Soto, Daniel Perez Jr., Carol (Wally) Silva, Sylvia Alderete, Alice Medina, and Paul (Irma) Estrada Jr.
Rosary will be at 5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the funeral home. Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 3, 2023, at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Tony Neusch, celebrating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
