Nicholas “Nick” William Van Kluyve

Nicholas “Nick” William Van Kluyve, 53, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, June 22,

2023.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S. Soncy. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Nick was born November 15, 1969, in Pampa, TX to Richard and Mary Lee Van Kluyve. Nick graduated from Plainview High School in 1988 and went on to graduate from Baylor University in 1997 with a double Master’s Degree in Mass Communications and Political Science. He pledged Kappa Omega Tau and made lifelong friends that became his family.

Nick had a passion for sports and loved to play golf. He spent many years working the Masters Golf Tournament in Georgia with his brother, Rick and the guys and looked forward to going back for play day each year. Very rarely did he miss watching a Texas Rangers Baseball game, a Dallas Cowboys Football game or a Baylor Bears anything game! He loved his family and spending time with them. Whenever Nick would walk into a room, all the kids would run to Uncle Nicky and most of the time fight about who got to hug him first. Nick could make everyone laugh, had the best advice, and was always willing to help other people out.

He was preceded in death by his daddy Richard Van Kluyve Sr.; his only sister Janine Jones; nephew Ean; and both sets of his grandparents, who we all know met him at the gates of heaven with open arms!

Survivors include his mother, Mary Lee Van Kluyve, of Amarillo, TX; a brother, Richard Van Kluyve, Jr, his wife Lori, their children Maddie, Ben, Cory and Samantha Barnes and their children Elliott and Emma; nieces Bailey Davis and her children Beau, Kennedy and Jackson, Britney Sherley, her husband Collin and their children Aynsley and Barrett, and Courtney Posey, her husband Justin and their children Carrie, Colton, Callie, Kash and Eric; his nephew Brennan Jones; his Fraternity Brothers of Kappa Omega Tau; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
