Neil Junior Lucero – September 12, 2017

On 09/12/17 at the age of 74 Neil Lucero passed away.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, in Trinity Fellowship Church, North Campus, 503 E. Willow Creek Dr. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Neil was born April 2, 1943, in Amarillo to Neal and Adella Lucero. He married Cecilia Guerrero on Aug. 3, 1963, in Amarillo.
Neil was a compassionate husband and loving father. For thirty years he owned and operated a successful carpet installation business. He worked tirelessly, sacrificing much to provide for his family. Neil enjoyed table tennis and fishing and having a cold one on a hot day. Neil was a member of Trinity Fellowship and he was dedicated to God and his family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Psalms 91:14-16 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.”
“He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”
“With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia; a son, Daniel Lucero, in 1996; and a brother, Ted Lucero.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Lucero and Jaime Lucero and wife Penny, all of Amarillo; three daughters, Laneva Dison and husband Billy, of Carrollton, TX and Rebecca and Christa Lucero, both of Austin; four brothers, Robert Lucero and wife Virginia and Jimmy Lucero, all of Amarillo, and Albert Lucero and wife Gloria and Mark Lucero, all of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Margaret Angel and husband Nick and Maryann Thomason and husband Gerald, all of Albuquerque, and Gloria Rivera and husband Rueben, of Amarillo; and four grandchildren, Carey Cross, Allyson Whitlow, Mackenzie Cross and Eryn Lucero.

  1. Neil would usually sit with us when we visited my father-in-law at the Craig. He became like family to us. My father-in-law passed away, but I saw Neil in July at the Plaza Restaurant with the group from the Craig. His face lit up because he recognized me and said “husband?” He was such a witness for Christ and we will never forget him.
