Nancy Pate Farmer, 84, of Amarillo (formerly Tucumcari, New Mexico) passed away Monday, November 28, 2022.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Nancy was born July 21, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas to Eley and Virginia Pate.
After graduating from Tucumcari High School in 1956, she attended Stephens College from 1956-1957 studying fashion and merchandising.
She married Darrell D Farmer in 1957 and joined him in Ft Collins, Colorado where she attended Colorado State University studying accounting.
After Darrell’s graduation from veterinary school, they relocated to Clovis New Mexico.
In 1968 Nancy and Darrell pursued their dream of ranching in Quay Valley, returning them to the Tucumcari area.
They were instrumental in organizing and starting the annual Cowboy Camp Meetings on their ranch in Quay Valley.
Nancy and Darrell remained active members of Tucumcari Methodist Church until their relocation to Amarillo in 2015. She was an excellent bookkeeper and worked in that capacity at Van Ark Nursing home.
She also worked at Quay County Clerk’s office.
She had been a member of PEO, Cowbells, and was a founding member of Tucumcari Women’s Investment Club.
She had been an active leader of Quay Broncs 4-H club and was involved in many sports and activities of her children.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Farmer, father Eley Pate, mother, Virginia Pate, and son, Joel Farmer.
She is survived by daughter Vicki Bryan and husband Craig, Prosper TX, Christy Barnett and husband Tommy, Wichita KS, granddaughters Erica Patterson and husband Ryan, Plano TX, Elissa Bryan, Frisco TX, and Ashley Divine, Spokane WA.
Great grandchildren Saylor Patterson, Avery Divine and Jude Divine.
