Myrna was born in Wilson County, OK and raised in Pampa before moving to Amarillo to complete her education at West Texas State University. She was a teacher for most of her life, retiring in 1996. Myrna started her career in Vega and concluded it by teaching at Fannin Junior High School and Amarillo High School in Amarillo. She taught Spanish and English during her 26 year teaching career.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Fort in 1997.
Survivors include three sons, Jory Fort of Amarillo, Gary Fort and Randolph Fort, both of California; two granddaughters, Julia Fort and Sierra Fort, both of California; and numerous friends and family.
The family expresses its appreciation to the management and staff of the Clairmont where she resided in her later years. She made many friends there.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
