Michelle "Shelley" Harriman Sloger

April 5, 1948 — December 8, 2024

Amarillo

Michelle “Shelley” Harriman Sloger, age 76, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Shelley was born on April 5, 1948, in Amarillo, TX, to Sherman Harriman and Genie (Farley) Harriman. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1966. After attending Amarillo College for a year, Shelley moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. She graduated May 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in French and English with a minor in Spanish. She had dreams of being a translator for the UN. Instead, she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Sloger in 1970, and married in July of that year. Together they raised two children.

Shelley worked for Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch for 27 years, retiring in 2014.

Shelley loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. She was the biggest cheerleader in all their endeavors. She enjoyed watching them perform in theater, dance, sports and band.

Shelley enjoyed traveling. When someone would ask her “Do you want to go…” she’d jump in and ask, “When and where?” She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for almost 50 years.

The family wants to especially thank Mary Carrasco and the staff of Mary’s Place for loving and caring for Shelley in the final stage of her life. And for dancing with her any time the music started.

She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her son, Jeremy Sloger (Shannon), her daughter Amy Spears (Kelly), grandchildren Ethan Spears (Eden), Brennan Sloger and Nate Sloger, her brother Cal Harriman (Ruth), brother-in-law Richard Sloger (Jane), nephews Gabriel Harriman and Wesley Sloger (Sana), and niece Holly Harriman Walker (Wayne).

A memorial service will be held at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 21, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101 or to Mary’s Place, Attn: Mary Carrasco, 4807 S. Rusk, Amarillo, TX 79110.
