On October 6, 2024, while being held by her family, a very special creation of the Heavens returned to be with her Creator and Heavenly family. Michelle Bryson was born in Amarillo, Texas on January 5, 1961 to Jack and Yvonne Fuqua. Her short journey in this life was only for 23,285 days, but they were days filled with optimism, kindness, compassion, and adventure. She attended schools in Amarillo and graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, then attended Amarillo College and Texas Tech university. Following school she worked in banking and insurance before eventually opening her successful health benefits business, FB Benefits Group.
Throughout her life and career, she was known for her integrity, service, kindness, and compassionate giving. She believed in sharing the gifts with which she had been blessed, and it did not matter if it was a homeless person on the street or a large community endeavor; she gave without reservation.
Michelle served on many boards and committees over her career, including The Eveline Rivers Christmas Project, United Way, church finance committees, youth sport leagues, and Booster Clubs.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Middle Sunday School Class, several study clubs, book clubs and sororities. Her passions were scuba diving or anything close to the ocean, snow and water skiing, baking, and family. She was happiest when all of her family was tucked into bed under one roof.
Family surviving Michelle include daughters: Tiffany of Boca Raton Fl., Blair and Emily of Lubbock Tx., 2 nephew/sons: Alan Ramirez (Courtney) of Sewanee, Tennessee and Matt Ramirez(Blair) of Dallas, Tx; one brother: Winn Fuqua(Debbie) of Dallas Tx., a niece: Aly of Dallas, 3 grandsons: Jack, Sam, Mason, the greatest step-mom in the world Kay Fuqua of Amarillo, many cousins, second cousins, and her loving husband Neil Bryson of the home. Those who had gone before and were waiting with joyful anticipation include both of her parents, many aunts, uncles, cousins, sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
Michelle was the glue that held her family together. She taught her husband how to raise a family and she was the soft cushion that the family needed for any crisis. She was virtuous as described in Proverbs 31:10 and Proverbs 31:30. Not only was she a Child of God, she was God's friend which has to do with her daily walk. She nurtured this friendship by starting each day with a cup of coffee and Bible study, then entered sleep at night with a whispered prayer for her family. God only cries for the living, because it's the living that are so far from Home.
A celebration of Michelle's life will be held in The First Baptist Church of Amarillo on Oct. 18,2024 at 1:00pm with Dr. Howie Batson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Eveline Rivers Coat Project, Eveline's Sunshine Cottage, First Baptist Church or any other favorite charity.
