Maxine Sims – June 4, 2012


Maxine Sims, 86, of Dumas, died Monday, June 4, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Maxine was born on December 10, 1925 in Crossville, Tennessee to Noah and Ova Taylor.  She was a homemaker and very involved with the First Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship.   She also volunteered at the Window on the Plains Museum.
She married Bill Sims on March 8, 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Mattie Florence Taylor, Mary Ellen Taylor, Pauline Choate, Irene Elmore, Pearl Brestar; and two brothers, Edward Taylor and Glenn Taylor.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Bill Sims of Dumas; a daughter, Sandra Bottomly and husband Lewis of Glendale, Arizona; a son, Robert Sims of Amarillo; two sisters, Helen Jennings of Oriental, North Carolina, Christine Jennings of Crossville, Tn; two brothers, Carl Taylor and Ralph Taylor of Crossville, TN; and one granddaughter, Alyson Comer of Jacksonville, FL.
The family suggests memorial be sent to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 971, Dumas, Texas   79029.
