Max Dwight Mefford, 71, of Amarillo, TX passed away on October 26, 2022.
Private family services will be held at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, OK, at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Max was born in Quanah, TX on January 18, 1951, to Hazel and Glenn Mefford. He grew up in Eldorado, OK.
Max married Joanne Savage on December 23, 1972.
Max holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts and Geology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. He was a farmer and a teacher. He joined the GSM staff in November 2001 as Vice-President of Operations responsible for customer calls and coordination of services with customers. He served five years as Manager of the Well Construction Technology Center in the Department of Petroleum and Geological Engineering at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. In addition, he spent 17 years with Halliburton as Industry Training Coordinator, gaining extensive international experience as well as time spent in cementing and stimulation field operations domestically. Max loved to work, ride horses, and spend time with his family. He was a member of Range Riders of Amarillo for many years and enjoyed going on trail rides.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Mefford.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Mefford, of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Kelli Allen and husband Doug, of Amelia Island, FL, Brandi Stephens and husband John, of Karnack, TX, and Brooke Mefford, Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Aaron Allen, Caleb Stephens, Kalee Ajaz, Zac Allen, Morgan Stevens, and Jaxon Mefford; and great-grandchildren, Aurora, Xandyr, and Kade.
