Matthew "Bob" Lane, Jr. – September 28, 2017

He spent most of his younger days at his grandparent’s home in Memphis, Texas. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1939, three years’ later just days before his 21st birthday he joined the US Army Air Corps in 1942 and was a WWII veteran. After spending 5 ½ years in the service, he came back home to Castro County where he married Mary Lee Tyler in 1949. They moved to Oldham County in 1955 where he spent most of his long life living in the Vega and Adrian area. In 1983 he married Maria Trujillo who preceded him in death May 2004. Bob loved nothing more than being a cowboy, and spent his life doing just that. He ran wheat pasture cattle, worked on the Bridwell Ranch, road pens for Great Plains and Kirkland’s Feedyards and day worked when he could for many of the area ranches. In the later years he would help the City of Adrian with the mowing but didn’t like the tractor very much, “I’d rather be on a horse”. Bob also loved making and giving away wood crosses to his many friends and church members. Bob was a member of the Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Hereford and attended the Vega Cowboy church. The interment services will be Monday October the 2nd at 1:00 p.m. Vega Memorial Park Cemetery with the arrangements by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
We would like to say a very special “Thank You” to the whole staff at the Community Living Center with the Amarillo VA Health Care System. For the past 7 years they have taken wonderful care of our Dad.

I have very many happy memories of Bob. Never saw him when he wasn’t smiling. Rest in peace, cowboy and thanks for your dedicated military service.
