Mathieu Roux

Mathieu Roux, loving husband and father, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2023.  Mat was born March 6, 1975 in Sherbrooke, Canada to Jean-Claude Roux and Claudette Laliberte.

Memorial celebration of life will be at 2:00pm, Friday, April 14th,2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Jo Roberts Craig officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mat was an avid skier and elite volleyball player growing up in Quebec, Canada.  He was chosen to play on the National Canadian volleyball team which won the finals.  He received a professional degree in drilling and blasting.  He later went on to work for Technicolor doing film editing and production.  Mat met Samantha, the love of his life, on the online gaming community.  They were married for 17 years and had their beautiful daughter, Sophie.  Sophie and Samantha were the light of his life. He loved to travel.  In the numerous exotic vacations over the years, skiing and spending time in the ocean were some of the best times together with his family. Mat had a deep passion for anything involving cars, watching Formula 1 racing, football, gaming and above all his family. Mat was in healthcare for numerous years earning a certified medical office manager degree and later decided that nursing was the career he wanted to endeavor.  He earned his nursing degree in December 2021 and was passionate about being an emergency room R.N.

His sense of humor always kept people smiling and laughing and he would love for everyone to remember that about him and to celebrate his life.

He was preceded in death by his sister Claudine Roux and father-in-law Dr. Richard Chandler.

He is survived by his wife, Samantha; daughter Sophie; his parents, Jean-Claude and Claudette; mother-in-law, Mary Chandler; his sister Stéphanie; along with countless beloved extended family; and lastly his house full of animals.
