Mary Rosetta Thomas

Mary Thomas, 68, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 27, 2023 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mary was born on July 14, 1955, in Castro Valley, California. She grew up mostly in Spearman, TX where she graduated from Spearman High School in 1973. She moved to Amarillo, TX to help her grandmother while attending Amarillo College. She studied nursing and played basketball, when she met and fell in love with Mike Thomas. They were married in 1975 and built G&M Transmissions together, where she made customers into friends for life. During these years, they brought three children into the world; Rose, Rita, and Ralph. In 1999 they divorced and she began delivering for Shelton’s Flowers & Gifts, bringing joy everywhere she went. Around 2016 she took on the role of caretaker for her mother and her aunt. In 2022 she retired and started her new life where she spent her free time being the best grandmother (Mimi Mary), volunteering with her church, and rekindling friendships. She made this world a better place.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dutch and Ila Kibler.

Survivors include her children, Rose Hopkins of Austin, TX, Rita Epp and husband Jeran of Amarillo, TX, Ralph Thomas and wife McKenna of Claude, TX; two grandsons, Orson and Oberon Epp; her brother, Chris Kibler and wife Janet of Lawson, MO; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
