Mary Elizabeth Luther

Mary "Beth" Luther, 84 year old resident of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully Sunday, September 15, 2024 at North West Texas Hospital. Beth was born on August 29, 1940 in Jayton, Texas to Elizabeth Boucher and Ernest Goodrich. She graduated from Texhoma High School in 1958 and attended Panhandle State College in Goodwell, Oklahoma.

She married Dan Luther of Amarillo, Texas in 1977. She had two daughters Becky and Tiffany and two stepdaughters Dana and Joelle.

Beth worked at Colbert's Retail Store for over 16 years She opened her own consignment shop "Auntie Mame's" and ran it for over 25 years. She was known for wearing novelty and holiday sweaters. She also decorated her house for every holiday. Her favorite hobby was watching old movies, especially John Wayne. In the younger years of marriage, her and Dan loved to travel on business trips with Amarillo Hardware. They also enjoyed going out to eat every week throughout their marriage. Beth and her niece, Bunny Leathers grew up like sisters and loved spending time together and calling each other every night. A highlight of her week was going to the beauty shop and visiting with everyone. Every Sunday night she loved cooking dinner for the whole family.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Woolley and Ernest Goodrich, sister Ernestine Wakefield, and brother Jerry Goodrich.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dan Luther of the home. Two daughters Becky Bell-Linke and husband Kenny of Amarillo, Texas, Tiffany Denton and husband Jeff of Amarillo, Texas, two stepdaughters Dana Turney of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joelle Jerden of Kelseyville, California. Ten grandchildren - Lauren, Ryan, Austin, Christina, Patricia, Jessica, Amanda, Fisher, Sierra, and Hazel. Two great grandson - Riley and Preston.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 20, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount with Mark Gillaspy officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
