Mary Ellen Chandler, age 89, entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2025. She was born on June 24, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to John Chalmers Bryson and Annis Sparks Bryson.
A longtime resident of Amarillo, Mary graduated from Amarillo High School before attending Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where she earned her degree. She later returned home to Amarillo and dedicated her career to serving others as a Medical Technologist at St. Anthony's Hospital. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard Chandler. She remained committed to her profession for most of her life, retiring around the time of Richard's passing in 2019.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was a devoted member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where she found great joy in her involvement with the Daughters of the King and Education for Ministry (EFM).
She had a lifelong love of reading and cherished time spent traveling-especially in the mountains.
Shopping trips with "her girls" were among her favorite pastimes, creating cherished memories with those she loved.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard Chandler; her son-in-law, Mathieu; and her grandsons, Bryson and Joey.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam, and her husband, Jim; her son, Richard, and his wife, Pam; her son, Chris, and his wife, Andrea; her daughter, Samantha; her grandchildren, Rachel, Josh, Nikki, Sophie, Evan, Sean, and Madison; her nephew, Mike, and his wife, Lynn; and many great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, followed by burial at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mary's grace, kindness, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
