Mary Ann Pratt-Hollabaugh, 94, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on May 11, 2023.
She was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on May 1, 1929, to her mother Edith Baudoin Mouton, and father Sidney Mouton. She was baptized on June 1, 1929, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.
She grew up and went to school in southern Louisiana where she met Van Pratt and had two children, Larry Pratt and Brenda Pratt. Shortly after she was left to raise her children as a single mother and after years of struggle she moved to Houston, Texas, and thereafter Amarillo where she found her true home. She worked most of her life in the women’s retail clothing business starting at Kline’s in Western Plaza and for over twenty years with her own clothing store in Puckett Plaza called “Mary Ann’s Boutique”, which was very successful. She developed many long-standing relationships with her customers, and some became life-long friends.
After retirement, she met retired US Army Major Kenneth Hollabaugh whom she fell in love with. They married and remained together until his death in 2014. They enjoyed travelling together, caring for their beloved bichon-frisé, Jolee, and attending Polk Street United Methodist Church every Sunday. Mary Ann was known for her excellent home-cooked meals, beautifully landscaped yards, and for giving advice whether you wanted it or not.
Mary Ann is survived her by her sister, JoAnn Talley of Abbeville, LA.; children, Larry Pratt of Amarillo, and Brenda Bane-Lyon and husband Pat Lyon of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Chris Bane of San Antonio, Tiffany Cochran and husband Dale of San Antonio, Katresa Finch and husband Brad of Amarillo, Jerome Pratt and wife Melissa of Amarillo, and Jenny Pratt of Amarillo; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary Cochran, Megan Cochran, Gaven Debault, Sydnee Pratt, Addison Pratt, Hallee Pratt, Kloee Pratt, and Sophie Pratt whom she called “Baby Pratt”. The family would like to give a big thank you to her special friends, Bre Coffin, Alfreda Roberts, and Brooke Harlan of Encompass Hospice for consistently taking care of Mary Ann during her final years and providing her with so much companionship and care.
