Mary Alice Cline – August 26, 2012


Mary Alice Cline, 93, of Amarillo, died Sunday, August 26, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Gaines, pastor of Covenant Fellowship Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Garden Mausoleum at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Cline was born in Vernon on Dec. 8, 1918 to Beaty and Dixie Andrews.  The family moved to Amarillo in 1928 from Wichita Falls.  She attended Amarillo schools, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1936.  She attended Mary Hardin Baylor College before marrying Roy Cline, Jr. of Amarillo on June 22, 1939.  She continued making Amarillo her home until her death.
Mrs. Cline worked as a secretary for Soil Conservation Bureau of Reclamation, Amarillo Air Force Base, and 25 years at Tascosa High School when she was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame (1990), an honor for which she was very proud.
She was a member Covenant Fellowship Church, formerly San Jacinto United Methodist Church, for 82 years where she taught the children’s Sunday school for several years.  She was a charter member of The Heritage Class for which she was the teacher for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Barry of Austin, Carter and wife, Sue of Sulphur, Louisiana, a daughter, Carolyn Beene of Amarillo; a brother, James B. Andrews of Denver, Colorado; four grandsons, Michael Cline and wife Emily of Houston, Corey Cline and wife Adiel of Maui, Hawaii, Robert Beene and wife Melissa and Royce Beene and wife Angela,  all of Amarillo, and two great-grandsons, Ryan Cline of Houston and Robert “Robie”  Beene of Amarillo; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Beene; and a niece and two nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Covenant Fellowship Church, 1739 South Avondale St., Amarillo, TX 79106; or a favorite charity.
