Martha was born on April 7, 1951 in Cleveland, TX to Malcolm and Evelyn (Cooper) Ritchey. She attended school in Goodrich, TX where she made lots of friends and loved growing up with her family in a small town outside Livingston, TX. In her younger years, she worked a brief time in a candy factory and was a dedicated waitress in the restaurant industry for several years. She also taught defensive driving and worked in home healthcare. Martha raised two beautiful daughters whom she loved very much and would do anything in the world for them. On December 26
th
, 1985, Martha married her husband, Bob Ferguson, who was a Nazarene preacher. They were married for 37 wonderful years and greatly enjoyed their time together pastoring churches in Grassland and Cisco. She was asked to speak at several women’s conferences and churches sharing her testimony of what God had done in her life. Bob and Martha moved to Amarillo, TX in 2014. They became members of First Nazarene Church and were involved in the senior adult ministry.
Martha was a loving, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was passionate about her ministry to God and winning souls to the Lord. She loved her family more than anything and cherished the time she was able to spend with them. Martha did not know a stranger and would often start conversations with people in order to eventually tell them about Jesus. If you saw her engaged in a conversation, you could almost bet it had to do with her love for God. Her life radiated love for others and there was no better prayer warrior than her. She started a bus ministry to bring as many children and youth to church on Sundays to help them hear the Gospel. She was very creative and used her special gifts to inspire those around her. She took pride in her artwork and her beautiful handmade postcards that shared her love for Jesus with as many people as she could.
The family would like to express their great appreciation to the BSA ICU staff in Amarillo, TX, her caregiver Janice (Janet) Davis and her home health staff.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, Malcom Edward Ritchey; mother, Evelyn Odell Cooper; three siblings: twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Ritchey, and brother, Joe Edward Ritchey; and one daughter, Ginger Evette Clark.
