Marty was born June 6, 1938, to Marion and Helen Leggett in Camden, Texas, the sixth of seven children.

Marty married Alan Gilmore on September 14, 1979, in Albuquerque, New Mexico where they made their home. Marty was known to comment Alan was “the love of my life” as evidenced by a marriage of nearly 40 years. Alan passed away on July 10, 2019.

Marty was an avid homemaker, excellent cook and detailed crafter. She loved sewing, having made many of her own, as well as her childrens’ clothes. Matching Mom & Daughter outfits were a hit. She won First-Place award for one of her special pieces. She was also known for being a cost-conscious shopper. It was amazing what she could do with $20. She loved gardening. Marty and Alan created beauty out of dirt everywhere they lived. Aside from being a mother, Marty worked at various jobs including banking, retail and became one of the first female purchasers at a steel manufacturing company in Albuquerque. After retirement, Marty & Alan sold their home and furnishings to enjoy traveling full-time in their RV.

Marty had three children: Lisa Wright, Bill Ainsworth, David Ainsworth and gained three more, Louis Gilmore, Pam Holcomb, Debbie Gilmore, when she married Alan. Together they took great pleasure in spending time with their granddaughter, Madison.
