It is with bittersweet sorrow that we announce the passing of Marsha Leavitt, who entered heaven on January 27th at the age of 78. Marsha was a cherished member of our community, a loving mother, grandmother “Nana,” and a person whose friendship touched the lives of many.
Marsha was born on April 21, 1946, in Bowie, TX. She served the town of Dumas working as a nurse for many years.
She married Carl “Choppy” Leavitt on August 27, 1965, and together they built a loving family. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Erma Stennett of Sunray and her husband Carl Leavitt. She is survived by her sister Karen Hoover, husband Bruce, of Oklahoma; two daughters Lana Melban, husband Jerry, of Amarillo, TX and Cherise DeLong, husband Bobby, of Canyon, TX; a son Chad Leavitt of Amarillo, TX; 3 grandchildren Alayna, Sydney, and Charis; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Marsha was deeply involved in her church. In her spare time, Marsha enjoyed quilting and gave several of them away as gifts to family and friends.
A celebration of Marsha’s life will be held on February 1st at 11:00 AM at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, TX. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her are invited to attend and share their memories.
Marsha’s love of Jesus showed through the love and compassion she gave others. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
