Marjorie Bonita (Willis) Dickerson, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 30, 2012.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Carl Jobert officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Marjorie Bonita Dickerson was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on Feb. 19, 1933. She met Lee A. Dickerson while he was stationed at McGhee Tyson AFB in Knoxville. They married June 10, 1955, at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Knoxville. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where Lee worked for General Electric as an aircraft engineering technician. He retired from General Electric in 1991. They moved to Texas to be closer to Lee’s family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee on April 3, 2012; her parents, Marion (Bud) Willis and Margaret Easterday Willis; a son, Lee Anthony Dickerson, Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dickerson Johnson of Wildwood, TX and Betty Dickerson Dixon of New Burn, NC.
Survivors include a son, David Dickerson and wife Kimberly of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, David K. Willis and wife Monica of Knoxville and Joe and wife Gail Nichols of Franklin, Tennessee; a sister, Joan and husband Bill Llewellyn of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Justin and Kayti of Amarillo; three sisters-in-law, Marie Rogers of Merkel, Mae Edmiaston and Cecilia Dickerson, both of Amarillo; three brothers-in-law, Sonny Muncy of Keller and Bob Muncy of Amarillo; and many loving nieces and nephews who were by her side during her illness.
The family wishes to express gratitude to BSA Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the funeral home.
