Bell Obit PhotoMarion Jacob “Jack” Bell, 67, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.
A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Larry Dan Melton officiating. Military rites by DAV Chapter 26.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jack was born June 24, 1946, in Dalhart to Emerson and Edwina Bell.  He graduated from Palo Duro High School.  Jack served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Cathy Varner on May 7, 1973.  Jack was a union electrician and retired in 2009. He was a member of American Legion and the IBEW Local 602.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Bell, Sr.; his mother, Edwina Bell; and his younger brother, John Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Bell, of Amarillo; two sons, Brad Bell and Chad Bell and wife Nicole, all of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Chale Dawson and Luci Valenzuela, both of Amarillo; three brothers, George Bell and wife Sherral, Emerson Bell and wife Sandra and Jesse Valenzuela and wife Dorothy, all of Amarillo; a sister, Cindy Melton and husband Larry of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Becky Bell; two grandchildren, Austyn Jacob Bell and Braelynn Marie Bell; and two he referred to as his grandchildren, Liberti and Jessen Dawson. Jack had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, he was lovingly referred to as “PopPop.”
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, 6010 W Amarillo Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106.
